The Church of Canon 844§2 incarnate.

The English Catholic Church exists to fulfill what you have long prayed and labored for.

Not as something foreign, but as the natural flowering of catholicity. The purpose of the English Catholic Church of North America as an Old Roman Catholic Church is to provide episcopal protection and oversight for Catholic believers and organizations—Churches, parishes, Religious Orders and other ecclesiastical organizations—who cannot currently be aligned with the Roman, Anglican or Orthodox Communions for various Dogmatic, Doctrinal, and Disciplinary reasons. (Canon 844
§2)

This unique mission allows us to serve as a spiritual home for those seeking a place of authentic Catholic faith and worship, rooted in tradition yet independent of the constraints of larger ecclesial bodies.

The time has come to rediscover who we truly are!

🔆 Why English Catholic?

✅ We stand in continuity with the ancient Church of England—the faith of St. Augustine of Canterbury, St. Anselm, St. Bede, and St. Thomas Becket.

✅ We preserve the richness of English liturgy and devotion (the Sarum Use and the Book of Common Prayer alike).

✅ We uphold the apostolic all male ministry of bishops, priests, and deacons as Christ instituted it.

✅ We offer unity with the whole Catholic Church, free from the distortions of both Protestantism and Roman centralism.

This is not about abandoning your patrimony. It’s about seeing it fulfilled. The stately cadences of the Prayer Book, the glory of choral worship, and your deep sacramental theology all point beyond themselves to fullness in English Catholicity.

At the heart of the Anglican and Catholic tradition beats the longing for Catholic faith and order—a Church that is apostolic, liturgical, and holy. From the Oxford Movement to the Prayer Book societies, High Churchmen have fought to preserve the sacraments, the historic episcopate, and the beauty of reverent worship. But ask yourself:

Was this vision ever meant to remain incomplete?

You are already English Catholic. It’s in your DNA. The Book of Common Prayer, the ancient hymns of Tallis and Byrd, the stately beauty of Evensong, and the deep sacramental instincts of Anglo-Catholicism are all expressions of a truth your heart already knows: you were never meant to be cut off from the fullness of Catholic faith.

The English Catholic Church and Communion is led by the Most Reverend, Metropolitan Archbishop Jayden Hagood, who also serves as Superior General of the Fratelli Della Croce and Ordinary of the Archdiocese of the Midwest of the English Catholic Church and third Spiritual Head (primes inter pares) of the Church, the English Catholic Church has grown into a communion committed to preserving the ancient traditions of the Catholic faith while meeting the pastoral needs of diverse communities across 13 States and 35 Countries.

The standards for doctrine and practice of the English Catholic Communion are found in the English translations of the Sarum rites, which are both Pre-reformation and Pre-Tridentine. The Sarum Missal was used for celebrating Mass in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, as well as parts of France and Portugal, for over 500 years prior to the reformation. This historic liturgy embodies the richness of the Western Catholic tradition, offering a profound sense of continuity with the faith of the early Church prior to the Great Schism.

However, the Communion also recognizes the liturgical traditions of its member jurisdictions, such as use of the Anglican Missal of 1921, the American Missal of 1952, the first Prayer Book of 1549, the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, the Old Catholic rites, Eastern liturgies as well as the Extraordinary Form (Tridentine), Ordinary Form (Novus Ordo), and Divine Worship: The Missal (Ordinariate) of the Roman Rite.

This Liturgical diversity reflects our commitment to honoring the legitimate variety of Catholic worship while maintaining doctrinal fidelity and sacramental integrity while gathered around a common tongue, English.

The Church is traditional and conservative in doctrine and practice. It upholds the timeless truths of the Catholic faith, grounded in Sacred Scripture and Apostolic Tradition, and seeks to provide a stable ecclesial home for those drawn to the beauty and reverence of classical liturgy.
